2015’s who’s who of pellets Bioenergy International PS1 2015 37 Pellet Fuels Institute (PFI) and Jennifer Hedrick who is an Executive Director The Pellet Fuels Institute is a non-profit trade association that represents the densified biomass fuel industry. Founded in 1982 as the Fiber Fuels Institute, PFI has been advocating clean, renewable, domestically-produced fuel for over 30 years. The association is constantly growing and strengthening the densified biomass fuel industry. Contact: Hedrick@pelletheat.org, www.pelletheat.org European Pellet Council (EPC) and European Industry of Pellet Suppliers (EIPS) is represented by Gilles Gauthier who is the General Manager for both organisations. The European Pellet Council (EPC) is an umbrella organisation representing the interests of the European wood pellet sector. Its members are national pellet associations or related organisations from 17 countries. EPC represents the interests of the sector in Brussels and communicates the contributions the European pellet sector can make to increase the use of renewable energy in Europe. EIPS is a platform of European companies focused on the wood pellet business. EIPS is hosted by European Biomass Association (AEBIOM) and takes advantage of the Aebiom network and lobbying experience. Contact: gauthie@pelletcouncil.eu, www.pelletcouncil.eu International Biomass Torrefaction Council (IBTC) and Michael Wild, IBTC President AEBIOM and the torrefied biomass stakeholders have decided to join forces and create the International Biomass Torrefaction Council (IBTC). On 5th December 2012, IBTC was launched in collaboration with DTA (Dutch Torrefaction Association) as a discussion platform among companies with similar interests. The main objective of the WG is to promote the use of torrefied biomass as an energy carrier in Europe, undertake studies or projects, and to collectively voice their concerns to the outside world. For the moment 20 companies in Pellet Association Malaysia (PAM) with Timothy Ong as Interim Chairman Pellet Association Malaysia provides a platform for industry and government organisations to address issues (demand, supply, regulatory, quality, etc.) facing the pellet market to accelerate the mobilisation of biomass for pellets. The association is a common voice of the Malaysian bioenergy sector with the aim to develop the market for sustainable bioenergy, and ensure favorable business conditions for its members Contact: timothy.ong@innovation.my, www.innovation.my PELLETS US Industrial Pellet Association (USIPA) and Seth Ginther who is an Executive Director The US Industrial Pellet Association was formed in February of 2011 as a not-for-profit trade organisation that promotes safety and sustainability practices within the US industrial grade pellet industry, as well as the growth of the overall bioenergy market. USIPA was founded by several industry Pellet Club Japan is represented by Ken Kojima, General Manager Director The Preparatory Meeting for Pellet Club Japan works to promote wood pellets through workshops, business meetings, symposiums, website, etc. since it was established in 2001. Thanks to their members support, membership has kept increasing. At the moment there are 364 members including four in overseas countries as of March 2004.
