For Landtechnik Urch GmbH, the manufacturer of the Mus-Max chipper brand, it is important to be able to cater to the complex requirements of each individual customer. This has been achieved with a customised edition of the Wood-Terminator 9 XL, recently handed over to Josef Pupp from Villanders/South Tyrol in Austria. This Mus-Max chipper, his second machine, is a special custom design equipped with many technological features. It has been specifically designed for operation in mountainous terrain where access roads are typically steep, very narrow and acutely curved. The special design of the Wood-Terminator 9 XL tractor mounted chipper boasts many special features including hydraulic drawbar suspension, hydraulic drive shaft at the front capable of road speeds of up to 60 km/h, hydraulically connectible driving power of up to 45 kW up to 9 km/h and infinitely adjustable, traction aid for starting on a slope, a log crane with the air-conditioned lifting cab on the right-hand side providing improved visibility over the chip discharge chute. BI79/4868/DN Finnish forest machinery manufacturer Ponsse is to receive top prize in the 2015 Red Dot Award. Founded 60 years ago the annual Red Dot product design competition is the world’s largest and most respected. It is the Ponsse Scorpion harvester that has been awarded the Red Dot: “Best of the Best” and is the highest individual award in the product design category. – Appropriate design is pivotal to the operability of the machine. The crane’s position and movement geometry, patented stabilising and levelling solutions and the triple-frame structure are totally new product solutions. Operator ergonomics and ease of use are emphasised in demanding harvesting, where a very technical machine is used to make quick decisions with a significant impact on work productivity. Stylish design includes advanced technology and our solutions are unique providing our customers an opportunity to adopt new harvesting methods and improve their own productivity, said Juha Inberg, Technology and R&D Director of Ponsse Plc.
